Alberto Garcia
Alberto was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain in 1990 to a family of musicians. He began studying all kind of percussions really early with teachers from all different styles of music. He finished his studies of classical percussion in the Conservatory of Music of Gran Canaria with his teachers David Hernández, Ximo Martínez and Lincoln Barceló, where he got outstanding results.
He just finished his bachelor degree of Arts in Jazz Percussion at the Hochschule für Musik Basel, with teachers like Julio Barreto, Jorge Rossy or Malcolm Braff, where he got outstanding results as well.
During the last years, Alberto has completed numerous master classes and international courses with musicians like Peter Erskine , Calixto Oviedo, Jim Black, Fred Frith, Horacio "el negro" Hernández or Gary Burton. Currently he studies his Master of Arts in Musikpädagogik und Jazz Percussion at the Hochschule für Musik Basel, with teachers like Jeff Ballard or Malcolm Braff.
The stages on which he has performed include concerts in many Spanish and foreign places (Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Cuba, etc), for instance: Auditorio Alfredo Kraus, Stadtcasino Basel, Auditorium of Conservatorio de Música de Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga (Sarriko- Bilbao), Teatro Guiniguada, Europa-park (Freiburg), EXPO2015 (Milano) Volkshauses (Basel). He has played in jazz festivals like "Festival Internacional Canarias Jazz & Más Heineken", "Südtirol jazz festival" or "Basel Off Beat Jazz Festival ", where he has played with international people like Jorge Rossy, Adrian Mears, Guillermo Klein, Wolfgang Muthspiel or Marc Turner.
Alberto has been playing with different kind of formations like Bigband, orchestras and groups, he gained Experience which he is now concentrating in 2 other projects beside his own Trio.
He was teacher of classical percussion, drums and jazz percussion for two years (2011-2013) in the "̈Escuela Artística Municipal de Moya"̈. At the same time, he was teaching to disabled guys with socio-educative purpose.
